Bambinart Gallery is pleased to present "sunny and airy" a solo-exhibition by Mio Ebisu.
Mio Ebisu (b. 1987 Tokyo, graduate of Musashino Art University) showed her first solo-exhibition at Bambinart Gallery in February last year and thereon participated in exhibition "Through the Woods..." organized by Nara Yoshitomo at and around the Towada Art Center, Aomori from December to January 2013. Ebisu is currently stationed in Beppu as part of the artist residency-project "Kiyoshima Apartment". Her works were also included in "Why not live for Art? II", a show held at the Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery in July, and is quickly establishing her credentials as a young artist.
One allure of Ebisu's paintings is her delicate use of color. Instead of concrete lines to carve out her forms, she relies on contrasting pigment, dark and light, that stain the canvas and morph into images. In result, the captured ephemera appear to be in constant movement, as alive as Ebisu originally encountered it.
This show is focused on the artist's works from her stay in Beppu and a visit to Thailand.
