Bambinart Gallery is pleased to present "Scenery to ○○", a solo exhibition by Wataru Ozu.

Ozu has made artworks referring to existing paintings such as "Lucretia" of Kranach and "Red Aye of Chardin" so far. This exhibition is also the starting point of production, referring to "Koyo Saruhashi No Zu", "Hakone Kosui Zu" etc. of Utagawa Hiroshige. We draw a number of images in combination with our own image on the existing image, and we are making paintings with drawing "drawing" as the motif.

"I am working on the relationship between the drawing drawn on a piece of paper on paper and the painting drawn with oil paint on a garbage, and the intermediary (image recalled by myself) to connect it By treating the drawings themselves as one motif and interpreting and drawing up the nuances of drawings into the nuances necessary for oil painting, the transition between different substances such as paper and paper cloth, container and oil paint, support size etc. I am considering making a problem arising as a result of mediation as a mediation." - Wataru Ozu

Ozu explores his role to produce painting by giving various actions to the production process by converting painting materials and supports, starting from images born from third parties. Since last year, I started to use a transparent canvas that did not paint the ground and just oiled it, from the desire to start painting with white paint. It is based on the way of thinking that uses portrayal of "white" by depicting the Flemish painting through the underlying white and utilizing the state of the canvas in the transparent state, we started drawing from the neutral part, white We are working on production with the consciousness aimed at part, color part, relationship between each.

Wataru Ozu was born in 1991, in Tokyo, Japan. He graduated at the Tokyo University of the Arts. He now lives and works in Tokyo, Japan. Recent exhibitions include "Paintings" Bambinart Gallery, Tokyo, Japan (2017); "Three Artists" Bambinart Gallery, Tokyo, Japan (2017).
